Lady Wolvering battle heat, injuries and adversity.
Prince Avenue Varsity Softball has had its share of adversity this year, and this weekend was no exception. The Lady Wolverines battled but came up short dropping all 4 games in the Threads Invitational in Toccoa, Ga. The Lady Wolverines played twice Friday losing to Stephens County 16-0 in the opener and 16-3 to Banks County in the nightcap. Prince played East Jackson in the first game Saturday and only trailed 3-1 after 3 innings. In the top of the fourth Sydney Roberts led off with a single and Chandler Carey followed with a hard line drive that turned into a double play after a great play by the second baseman. East Jackson went on to win 10-1. Prince lost the final game 11-1 to Elbert County. Annabeth Pruett and Kadijah Arnold each hit shots that hit the top of the fence inches from being homeruns. Sydney Roberts led the way at the plate this weekend batting going 3 for 6 with a triple. Annabeth Pruett was 3 for 7. Chandler Carey, Kristy Phillips and Kadijah Arnold added 2 hits each, while Bethany Campbell also had a hit. Chandler Carey led the team in RBI's with 3. Annabeth, Kristy and Sydney all pitched while Kadijah led the team defensively with 13 assists. There were some great moments this weekend , a 6-4-3 double play and a couple of nice relays to get runners at 3rd and home. I was so proud of how you Ladies continued to battle and how the coaching staff continued to coach and encourage. I watched the parents, coaches and players pull together this weekend. All I can say is keep your head up, keep working hard and remember that through times of adversity is when we grow the most. I still believe!!!! Go Lady Wolverines, enjoy the pictures below.
